Trillium Lakelands District School Board (TLDSB) is committed to providing our students, staff, parents/guardians, and the public with accessible services and opportunities that are free of barriers and biases. We focus on engagement and achievement for all students, and the use of assistive devices is welcome and supported in TLDSB. The Boardis committed to ensuring that all policies, practices, and procedures are consistent with the principles of independence, dignity, integration, and equality of opportunity to all people visiting our school and/or worksites.

TLDSB is guided in our work by the Board’s Accessible Customer Service Policy BD-2080.

The Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act 

The Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) 2005 was legislation passed in 2005, setting standards that organizations must meet by 2025. The overall goal of the AODA is to prevent barriers for people with disabilities.

The Integrated Accessibility Standards, Ontario Regulation 191/11 sets accessibility standards to help organizations identify and remove barriers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities in five areas of daily life:

  1. Customer service
  2. Information and communication
  3. Employment
  4. Transportation
  5. Design of public spaces

Requesting accessible formats

TLDSB is committed to ensuring that all of our services meet the highest standards of accessibility for persons with disabilities. This includes the Board and its schools websites. Therefore, if you require any public documents in an accessible format, complete the Accessibility Issue Form below, or contact TLDSB Communications Services by email at [email protected].

Accessible documentation requests can be made for:

  • Electronic documents on the Board and its schools websites
  • Board policies
  • Emergency procedures, plans, and public safety information
  • Educational or training resources and materials
  • Student records and information related to program requirements, availability, and descriptions

Student and staff accommodations

If a student or staff member has accessibility or Human Rights Code-related accommodation needs, such as adaptive technology, additional learning support, and/or facility accommodation needs, speak with a school teacher, school principal, or worksite manager. They will be able to help you access the appropriate accommodation, or put you in contact with Special Education Services.

Accommodations for public events

If you require accommodations for yourself and/or another participant for a Board and/or school event, please let us know to ensure proper arrangements can be made for a barrier-free experience.
